The Art of Crafting Hydrosols

The Intricate Symphony of Nature and Process
Like a fine wine, hydrosols tell the story of a thousand processes that created them. It's a beautiful transformation process of fresh aromatic plants gently coaxed into vapours and brought back as aromatic waters.
Plant cultivars, temperature at harvest, weather conditions, plant stage of growth, how it's packed in the still and even how long it's distilled... each process is critical to creating the finest hydrosol possible.
The Alchemy of Distillation
Capturing The Essence of Plants Through Steam and Copper
Fires are lit and the still is slowly brought up to temperature. As the steam begins to react with the plant material, the aromatics and cellular waters are released from the plant as a vapour and then are captured in our copper condensers.
There is a magical moment right before condensation happens. The initial vapour, often called the "Angel's Kiss," proceeds as a fog from the condensers and envelops the funnels. It's beautiful and highly aromatic!

The Slow Craft of Hydrosol Creation

Balancing Flow, Fragrance, and Temperature for Perfect Aqua Vita
From there, the process is slow and steady. We the flow and fragrance and adjust the temperatures until the plants are spent giving their precious aqua vita (Latin water of life) or as Jeanne Rose called it, "hydrosol."
These are distillates made specifically for their water component. It is a distillation process much different from the process used in essential oil production.

Each Batch Embodies Our
Farm's Heritage and Expertise
Each small batch carries a part of our farm, stills, and history with it. Try a sample and you'll experience the difference in an artisan-crafted hydrosol.
We use our own hydrosols, essential oils, and infused oils for health and beauty, but we are always trying to put it in food, soap, drinks, or food, too. Our farm and distillery are a veritable paradise. for the creative herbalist, foodie, and perfumer!
